Amazing staff

Chambre magnifique et très propre. Très belles décorations.

The hotel accommodation was as expected. However, the restaurant facilities were another story. The adjoining pub/restaurant is now gone having been replaced with a small eating facility created from what were previously hotel rooms. The menu was severely lacking in options and the food was from freezer to oven to table. A pint of Coke is not available only 330cl option. The desserts were limited but as we did not get to try cannot comment further on them. This leads me to the service within the eatery. I found this to be well below expectations as the staff were not really interested in the task. We weren’t asked if further drinks were wanted, didn’t take dinner plates away or ask if we wished to have desserts. In the end we gave up and went to our rooms. We were told on arrival that food service stopped at 9.30 PM but at 9.15 PM the kitchen looked empty and the remaining service staff member appeared to be avoiding contact. If this is the way forward for whitbread I doubt they will survive. I will avoid booking with them in future.

I must say Pam did an excellent job tidying up the room before my check-in. The lovely staff member in the breakfast room greeted each person with a warm “good morning” as they walked through the door. What better way to start the day than with a genuine smile from a total stranger? To me, that simple gesture meant more than enough. The two drivers who picked me up from and dropped me off at the airport were also absolutely amazing. Thank you all for the outstanding service and for making my stay such a positive experience.

Stayed one night. Well located within walking distance of everything. The property looks recently renovated. Our twin room on the second floor was spacious and clean, but poorly designed and lacking in functionality. Besides the beds, the furnishings included a small coat rail with a couple of open shelves, a small desk and one chair. There were no night tables or closets. The front door lacked a latch or deadbolt, and could be easily opened from the outside by anyone with a key card. The numerous windows (on two sides of the room) had no sheer privacy curtains, so we had to keep the blackout curtains closed at all times, as our room was easily looked into from the street and the building across the narrow street. Instead of night lamps or reading lights, there were hanging lamps with a metal cage and no shade - very impractical for reading or getting up during the night without waking up the other person. There were only three power sockets, two of which located near the beds, but at floor level. Comfortable bed and pillows. Amenities included an electric kettle, but no mini-fridge. The bathroom was extremely poorly designed: the toilet was on one side of the room, while sink and shower were on the other side, without a door separating them from the rest of the room. As the shower only had a half door, it means that one showers in full view of the other person in the room, without any privacy. There's even a full mirror strategically placed to reflect the person in the shower, so the other person doesn't miss any details! The shower had good water pressure. No shelf space in the bathroom, only a couple of hooks. A/C and wifi worked well. Breakfast with good selection of quality selection. I don't know if all rooms are so poorly designed, but I certainly wouldn't stay in the same room again.

The room was clean, had a beautiful view and the bed was comfortable. Staff was kind.
