Placemkr SoBro (hotel) - Nashville
This place is unlike anywhere I’ve stayed before, and it took a little getting used to for our two night, midweek stay in late April. Check in was super easy because of the young woman in charge, with Taj as name or TAJ as initials. She was incredibly helpful in explaining how the 8-digit passcode worked. She also helped us find discount parking because Placemkr is expensive for a 24 hour stay. Once we found our upper floor room and got in (don’t mess up the 8-digits!) we found the room clean and bright, with one wall full of floor-to-ceiling windows.
By dawn (5:30 AM) we began to discover the blinds provide privacy but let lots of light in. The sliding bedroom door has 5 large translucent glass panels, ok for privacy but our bedroom is lit up with daylight. Time for a shower in the world’s slipperiest bathtub. No bath mat, so we put one of the two big towels on the tub. You need the second big towel to mop the floor because the shower curtain is mounted higher than the tub! Stupid. Back, we change into our bathing suits. It’s too cool outside for the pool but the hot tub looks inviting. Except it’s closed, posted as “out of order”. The sliding bedroom door is off it’s bottom track, the bedroom door latch can’t latch the door but it’s perfectly positioned to deeply scratch you arm. The refrigerator ice maker is not working, there are only three tiny pillows for a queen size bed (no spares in closet), only one suitcase rack. Two stars.
